As an inexpensive option, our MDF wood is a popular and adaptable material that is made up of small strands of mixed hard and softwood, combined with resins and wax to produce a hard-wearing but lightweight panel.
MDF wood has a smooth surface that makes it perfectly suited to painting or applying veneers and thin laminates, resulting in a great finish. MDF sheets are available in a range of thicknesses and sizes and can be machined easily for a limitless range of shapes to suit any project. As such we are easily able to provide MDF cut to size, to suit a variety of projects.
Additionally, our MDF sheets take well to most adhesives and paints, so it’s great for customizing for different projects, and it’s easy to fabricate and fix with screws, nails, or glues. The light and smooth surface makes it easy to mark up for cutting or sanding down, and MDF sheets can be cut into various shapes and forms with ease using an electric saw, router, or handsaw.

What does MDF stand for?
MDF stands for medium-density fibreboard and is an engineered wood-based sheet made by bonding together wood fibres with a synthetic resin adhesive and pressure.
Can I cut MDF by hand?
It is possible to customise your MDF sheeting by cutting it into shape and is a fabulous way to get it to fit around any nook and crannies in your home. We have written a guide for cutting MDF yourself, or we can do it for you, just let us know before placing an order.
How strong is MDF?
MDF is not very strong as it is a compression of multiple fibres, however, it is very dense and durable. As a rule, if you require a sheet to hold a large weight, order a larger thickness, or contact us and we can assist you directly.
Can I paint on MDF?
Often chosen for its inexpensive cost as a furniture board, MDF can be painted to add some character or personality to any piece. We have written a guide to assist you in painting your MDF.
Can you waterproof MDF?
You can create waterproof MDF by adding a high-quality wood sealant, varnish or stain or moisture-resistant paint so that your project can withstand threats of moisture and humidity. For applying any paint or coating please see our paint guide.
What are the best screws for MDF?
To screw into MDF you will require specific screws to prevent splitting. We recommend using screws that are purposely made for MDF as generic screws may damage the sheeting.
Does MDF warp?
MDF is prone to warping and bending when moisture is concerned. That could be a result of liquid affecting the sheet, or even from an uneven temperature causing bowing and warping.

so pleased with how our hallway is coming along 🥰 here is a little run down of what we’ve done
🎨 we painted the walls, skirting & door frames in slipper satin (paint matched at b&q) - I think I also want to do the ceilings as they need a refresh anyway
🪚 we panelled the wall longest wall which I loved doing, the most difficult part was going around the plug sockets - I ordered from cutmy.uk which was made to measure & absolutely brilliant
🎨 the panelling is painted in elephant’s breath (also paint matched at b&q)
🪞& then we added the mirrors
💡changed the light fitting
🖤 painted the little cabinet in pitch black - a bit risky but so pleased with how it came out
🪑added a bench and cushions
🌿 we bought a new (big) plant baby, bird of paradise & a large pot for the corner
🧥and some gorgey coat hooks for under the stairs made by ardovie_wood who we found on etsyuk
We’re going to look for some baskets to go under the bench for shoes, and I want to get a new lamp too! And the current plan is the change the carpet to hard flooring next year.

LIFE LATELY 🌲✨
I realised I legit NEVER post stills anymore, and shiney reels don't always show reality. So next year I vouch to make a bigger effort to post more pictures that capture the good bad & ugly!
1. The finished stairs garland after 599 attempts at tying a bow we got there - if you saw my stories you'll know this is an achievement 🤣
2. A moment of still/ gratitude with my babies
3. 4 month milestone!! Feels like 4 minutes and 4 years all in one.
4. A small win to be celebrated - I was in overwhelm city and I forced myself out the house. Obvs felt a million times better for it so need to remember for next time!
5. My breakfast bar of dreams 🥰 so happy with how's it's turned out - just need to make my mind up on paint.
6. Nap trapped and savouring the moment. She won't be this little again and as tough as it is I would swap anything to keep these cuddles longer 🥹
